It's cheating (football, to be good, requires a healthy dynamic of players pushing the limits, and a good ref arbitrating), but the outcome is on us.
The wall should be watching the kicker, shouting at the ref that he's moved it, and adjusting their position to allow for the new angle. Those who say it makes no difference know nothing about the act of kicking the ball - getting half a yard can give you a line for a shot, where one didn't exist. If that happens, move the wall to block the line.
Amongst all the things that you should do on a football pitch, watching the ball should be quite high up the list.
I strongly dislike set pieces, and what they have become. A minor technical infringement shouldn't mean that we all stop for a couple of minutes and go to special teams. Play should be continuous, but set pieces are stat friendly events.
