The march to Europe starts here.
1-1
Mundane thread title but I think the lads, guided by Nuno, will overcome this unimaginative hiccup and triumph. 3-1 and fist pumps all round to the Stevie Cooper song.
If Nuno has a shave and goes bobbing for apples in a deep fat fryer, before fist pumping we’d never know the difference.
Too soon?
Nuno Santo's Red and White Army! 3-1 to the good guys. Wood (2), Murillo.
0-3.
Bournemouth are good at the moment and we are not.
Shit thread title. No enthusiasm. 0-0.
And that’s about it
Nuno out!!!
Chicago: Raging against the machine.
My predictions:
Sangare and Dominguez will reappear with added verve.
Hudson-Odoi will show up match fit and will score.
Worral still won't make the bench.
The Greek revolves past Turner to go between the sticks again. He may even make a save or two.
Gibbs White drops to the bench and is no longer teacher's pet.
Santos and Montiel are back on the bench but it's probably too little too late.
Elanga won't get caught offside even once (I know I'm pushing it now).
I wouldn't be surprised if Toff and Williams are rotated out purely because we have riches on the bench in those positions (who may or may not have fallen out with Cooper) but I'm going to hope he sticks with them for this one.
At least Nuno is known to prefer a back three which at least suits our abundance of wing backs in the squad.
Seriously he should play Toffs, Neco and Yates. They were the only ones to do themselves justice.
The Greek will come back in because he played in Portugal.
Other than that fucked if i know. Sangare (if fit) and Dominguez may well emerge from the patio. Danilo playing with MGW.
I don’t think Hudson Odoi is fit enough for Nuno. We shall see though.
Elanga will definitely play as he is the only one who can run.
Chicago: Playing Pigmy poker.
I wonder if Nuno will pick Nuno.
He might as he’s Portuguese….
Chicago: Not a fan of nepotism.
Apparently Bournemouth sent a block of tickets back.
Yep, I had an email saying some were going on sale. Can only buy if over 20 years old though.
It appears he has some warmth for Morgan Gibbs-White and Willy Boly.
Given he was directly asked about having two players he'd worked with before, he was hardly going to say 'they're sh!te and will never play for me again', was he?
Please don't fall for the club spin. (Way too many of our fans have swallowed Percy's ramblings as Gospel over the past few months, but let's not forget he was getting drip-fed material to undermine SSC by certain people at the club).
Look at all the Worrall nonsense (he was in first-team training, just not the matchday prep, because he wasn't in the matchday squad). Do you really think the pix showing McKenna and Worrall at training with NES today were an accident?
I wouldn't know about any of that but like some others I had heard rumblings from the west Midlands prior to his appointment that he didn't have a good relationship with MGW. That does seem to be unfounded, and MGW has already said some welcoming things about him. I think there was also some genuine warmth in Nuno's comments about MGW having become a father and grown into a man since when he last worked with him. He didn't have to say that and it shows a modicum of human interest in his player.
It's not Nuno's fault that Cooper has been sacked and it's possible to both be unhappy about that decision but give the new guy, who seems like he will do his best and is a competent guy a fair chance. Nuno seems measured and I'm sure is media savvy but that is important and one of Cooper's great strengths. It sure beats the days of the incoherent garbage Joe Kinnear, Steve McLaren and the like used to spout.
It’s a bit windy out and we’ve a few injury issues.
Can we pull a ‘Muff and sack it off till later?
