Thinking of going to Aus summer 2025 to watch some rugby (Lions tour) and travel round.
I've only ever been to Sydney, any recommendations for what to do.
We will definitely be in Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney as that's where the three tests are.
Agent has put in time in Cairns. Uluru on list too and suggested Kangaroo Island (Adelaide).
Tasmania and Perth/west coast worth some time?
Only spent a few days in Brisbane but it was cool.
I have nothing but uncomplimentary things to say about Perth and WA.

Definitely go to Uluru, Cairns is alright if for tropics related stuff, wouldn't fuck about with Adelaide.
West Coast is a bit of a heavier time investment if you, Monkey Mia is great but it's all travelling so is more for the silver nomads or whatever they are called. Perth is like Gillingham away, a long way for fuck all.
I really liked Perth, but to be fair I was only there a week and spent half of that on a boat on the outer reef

Actually, if you do go to WA then Margaret River is nice. Basically the posh wine region where the wealthy racists live, there are some nice restaurants there. As Ingo says though, it will take you about three days via plane, car and camel to get there.
Three days of traveling for a field full of racists? Can we send Lee Anderson back there via the anonymous text hotline?
I am a big fan of the Great Ocean Road which gives you a handle on the scale of the country but there's enough to do on the way.
You'll need to develop an opinion on which is the best city but save you the time Melbourne is the best city. Also, Holden are the best cars and Aussie rules is better than Rugby.
He would love it in WA, it's full of racist Brits running away from whatever shit it was that got them in trouble in the UK and finding solace in each other's miserable bigoted arms.

I hadn't considered West Coast until travel agent suggested it, so may steer clear.
We likely won't be driving much unless daughter can drive a hire car at 21 (possible but with limitations I think). Wife won't any my eyesight isn't great.
Which I've heard can be good thing as lots of the driving is on roads that look the same with little to see/do (Ocean Road may be a more scenic exception, but Ingo you do love a drive I think!).
Cairns was for the rainforest and reef (though I'm not a big swimmer, I like to be able to touch the bottom which sounds sub optimal with a heritage reef beneath your feet). But seems.like they have that covered with semi submersibles and glass bottomed boats.
Have you considered a trip to antarctica? Chic can't melt the polar ice caps on his own.

I liked Adelaide. It's not too big (a good thing), and has the Barossa Valley / Adelaide Hills nearby which is good if you're into your wine. Beach is also good.
Agree re Melbourne as probably the best city. It's like the best bits of Manchester with sunshine.
Didn't go to Uluru but did go to Coober Pedy so you don't have to (seriously, don't).

My brother and his family are in Adelaide, so I'm biased but I like it - the wine areas are definitely worth a visit.
I did a wine tasting thing in Adelaide and ended up driving the wrong way up the dual carriage way. It wasn't big or clever but it was funny.
