The record snowfall in a single day in Toronto is 39.9cm. Or it was, until we had 46cm yesterday.

Are you OK? Have the shops run out of bread?

Russ will be fine, he bakes his own bread these days, from unbleached oats and nettles.

I'm fine, I live in Canada. We don't grind to a halt when it snows, we have armies of plows and trucks to take the snow away running 24 hours. The streetcars and subways are still running, the planes are still landing and taking off, people are still working, and life goes on as normal.

Midlife Russ is just as likely to say 'fuck the shopping' break out the bourbon and brave the weather to walk downtown to get another tattoo done these days. Probably.

You should probably rush out and buy half-a-dozen loaves of bread, just in case.

It's all floods and landslips here. Good time to live in a flat elevated town with good drainage

Honestly I might do all of them - the baking, the whiskey, and the tattoo - in the same day.

Haven't had a brown distilled liquid for a long time. Might correct that, and try to drive away the current cold (virus, and also apocalyptic weather) this evening.

Record high (in the era of current temp-measuring tech) for the state of Victoria. 49degrees. T’was a mere 45 in the city. Some stuff is in fire but nowhere near me.. which is nice.

Jesus. I struggle to comprehend 49. Trying to think of the hottest places I've been. Maybe Greek islands 7-8 years ago during August or Africa when I was younger - but even then I think both were mid/high 30s and that already felt super hot.

Just stepped outside for some fresh air. It’s 34 degrees at 10.30pm. This country is nonsense.

And in Fort Lauderdale there is some concern about a cold snap. It's going to be 67F (20C) today.
