Sounds like Jamaica is about to get hammered with a Cat 5.

I have a meeting scheduled on thursday, and was phoned earlier to say that they would be unable to make the meeting because they were stuck in Jamaica. "Could be worse", says I. I then found out that they were stuck because of an inbound tornado.
Ooops.
Unseasonably mild in the East Midlands today. Feels genuinely warm in the sunshine.
No snow at all in Southwell. But it is very wet.

No updates from Cotgrave I'm afraid after the weather station was accused of sorcery and torched. Rumours a local trog subsequently tried to eat the weather vane believing it to be poultry are unproven, but likely to be true.
I just read on BBC 8cm snow in Nottingham.
We've got about 15cm in Birmingham. Snow days all round, apart from me as I work from home.
Loads of snow in Mansfield.
Nothing this side of Newark, either.
6-8cm in coalville too. I have declared the office shut and we will all be working from home.
Although that only affects 3 of us as everyone else was today anyway.
40+ degrees here and some of the worst conditions for bushfires in years (extreme heat plus strong winds plus dry thunderstorms). There’s a big one burning a ways north of us and we decided to leave the house and escape to the city for a while when they recommended evacuation from a town 10 miles away. Fortunately (for us) the wind dropped and changed direction halt the march of the fire towards our general vicinity and nothing else started up.
I remember the nightmarish Australian bush fires of January 2020, which were, in hindsight, rather portentous.
Aren't bush fires how the bush works? (Glad you are ok, obvs)
They’re part of the natural cycle, yes.. but us humanfolk have kinda fucked with that cycle in a multitude of ways so it’s not as if the fires experienced now are just nature doing what nature does.
I was looking at wildfire risk maps of Australia at work this afternoon.
Heads up Noodle, you're saved.
