This wasn't the fens. They don't even have the excuse of mutated genetics in the City (sic) of Lincoln for the abject dipshittery it's so well renowned for.

    I was celebrating, not complaining.

No complaining at all. I too marvel at the wholly disproportionate and absolutely absurd levels of spazwiitted mongism presented in many forms the slightest hint of snow brings within these fair Isles. It's fucking mental.

So Chicago for about ten months of the year.

    But that’s a dry heat!

Chicago gets very humid. It isn't fun. Heat is rubbish. It also brings out the mexicans and their fucking awful music and since the weather has made me grumpy it's a recipe for disaster. So yes Heat is pants. Cold is the answer.

We had an ice storm last night. This is a phenomenon I'd never experienced before moving to Canada and it is orders of magnitude worse than any other form of weather I've experienced - it falls as rain and then freezes upon contact with whatever it lands on, leaving roads, sidewalks, cars and everything else covered in a sheet of pure ice. It also causes significant problems with above ground wires because it forms large, heavy ice coverings on them and causes them to break. It is a truly horrendous weather phenomenon and I will not leave the house until it has melted because it's so dangerous.

    Excellent general advice here.

He's implying that you are a typical feckless man, making up any excuse to avoid doing something that you don't want to.

    Which seems fair.

I was suggesting that you are using the weather as an excuse to avoid visiting the in-laws.

    EDIT: ^ as tricky says.
