The quote I saw was "We are worried about him. He is going to have a scan tomorrow. We are hoping it is nothing serious so he can go to the [England] squad."
If it’s the case that he could possibly even join the England squad then maybe not as bad as you fear?
Preferred outcome: minor injury rules him out of international break but is back for Palace.
But, again, five points from Liverpool, Brighton and Chelsea away - two of those games with 10 men for a proportion of the second half - is outstanding.
Otherwise that sounds largely great apart from the injury.
As for whether the squad is light in central midfield... How many other teams, mid table and down, could have this many players ruled out and still have quality like Yates, Dominguez, Anderson, Jota Silva as options? They'd surely be looking at youth team players?
To be fair (as well as being entirely reasonable given all the stoppages) that extra 13 minutes was even more entertaining than the previous - already a humdinger of a game - 90 minutes, with both teams having chances (plural) to win it and both keepers making magnificent saves to keep their teams level.
