I don't hate him, he's a nice guy. I just think he's very far below the standard of keeper we should be aspiring too, much much worse than what we had last year and it angers me that we have been robbed by Arsenal and so many people seemed to want to convince themselves he is good and just because he was first in the door that Vlachodimos should be behind him - next man up doesn't always work. Presumably we thought Arsene reserve keepers work out - see Martinez and Leno. Seriously, Karl Darlow would have been better and cheaper.

Nobody has said that he is great. After the lunatic he's probably the best keeper that we've actually owned for a good few years.

Recruiting an assclown can be difficult and expensive. Manure paid a fee of over forty million, plus eyewatering wages, for theirs and there's plenty of other teams who've had expensive wasted turnover in that position.

Turner is fine... not great but fine.

Stick to stats, you're better at them.

Almost as weird as liking his own posts.

Still, the bottom 4 look very much to be there for the long term which helps our ummm transition year.

The league is still hard as fuck, it's just not getting relegated is abit easier for this season. We've now done the away game streak of doom, where we go from here is key in the quest to keep SSC. Hopefully he can channel the under siege spirit again in the short term.

He's not fine for me if he's going to cost us 10 to 15 points and we've got someone better on the bench and/or can get someone better in January.

I think the jury's out on whether he's any better than Pantmilion, I certainly didn't feel as nervy with Pants in our first eleven and he had played more top level games. They are stylistically not dissimilar though - rangey and decent shot stoppers with nothing else. I think Pants kicked better and had better concentration. Turner is certainly much much worse than Dorus De Vries, Darlow or Samba in my opinion, and we're in the league above.

We managed to get two keepers on loan last year who were both far from being ass clowns, and we should be a better proposition than we were then. We can and should do better, we may already have done in Vlachodimos though it's ominous that so far Cooper doesn't seem to think so.

Today didn’t really matter, we are never going to get anything at Anfield.

Which is why I’m still annoyed about last week. I should probably get over it but it’s just added pressure. We could easily get nothing from next three and then it’s Everton who are showing better than us currently.

Yes that and Burnley and even Man U are all very frustrating.

    Difficult second album.

    Happy to help.

    Sophomore season.

The Greek keeper must be really bad if Turner gets a game ahead of him.

Can we please stop mentioning goalkeepers because it seems to trigger an allergic reaction in one particular person? YES. WE KNOW.

Waking up this morning with a real worry for Cooper's job.

  • 30 Oct 2023, 9:01 a.m.

I have the same uneasiness. This is the constant worry for Cooper as he is learning as he goes. He has no frame of reference or experience to draw on. He is completely at the edge of his competence every day / match. Which is great development space if you afford to learn from mistakes. That’s not to say Cooper is not capable of becoming a fully fledged top coach, but this is his first time round the block so he’s not there yet.

Problem is our owner will not see developmental learning as a positive thing. I am sure he wants assurances of success, not learning from mistakes to be better in the future

Given SSC's track record of meeting that challenge (last season), versus (for example) a string of experienced Chelsea managers failing to meet a similar challenge. Who are you appointing that definitely improves your chances?

I've no idea. But you can bet that the hierarchy have a few names on a piece of paper.
