We haven’t been terrible but any mistakes will be punished. Unfortunately that came to pass with Muriel trying to be fancy and getting caught out. Liverpoo are lightning fast springing forward and if we aren’t perfect we will get picked off which is exactly what happened.

Hope this doesn’t end up a battering.

Our lack of options up front don’t help either.

Oh well we were always going to be up against it.

Chicago: Hoping for a plucky second half.

We've had exactly that: a little bit of ball retention. Three or four times now.

Were two of those the times we kicked off?

I was hoping for a little bit of ball retention, and some kind of improvement over the kind of capitulation on the road against good teams that chsracterised last season. So far no joy.

I don't see any similarity with how we played last season. We are never going to be bossing possession. We have moved the ball through midfield, and had the chances to release a forward run. Elanga has mostly been offside, but he's playing on the edge, hoping to catch them out.

I'm not saying it's great, but we are playing away against a side who were always going to outclass us. We haven't managed to frustrate them and deny them a goal. So the result isn't going to pan out for us.... but I just don't agree with your assessment of the performance.

In football you don't just get to choose what you can do. The other side influences what happens. We've been caught by an overload break, and second phase from quick ball movement at pace and an early shot. The rest of play has been solid, with attempts to get behind quickly on the odd chance on the ball. Hardly a disgrace.

Last season, at this stage, we were pretty hapless with and without the ball.

Comfortable defeats on the road, failing to close out games we should win at home, the odd plucky victory to keep our heads just about above water.

I can see Marinakis looking at this and wondering what he spent all that money on given we're not actually any better than we were last season.

Was just thinking how many more games without a win before he sacks Cooper. My guess is three.

I suppose that the existence of this sort of thinking demonstrates that you can't ever really solve the people problem. Only hope to defer it's impact.

Villa (H), West Ham (A), Brighton (H). 0-2 points is a perfectly possible outcome from those. I realise it's heresy to say such things, but I don't think Cooper is doing a very good job this season.

We’d have played almost a third of our home games, with all the big 6 to come, and won one.

No but see we had that win at Chelsea so we're so much better than last season.

    There goes Turner's starting job.

This is utterly abject. This isn't us getting swept away by a rampant Liverpool despite our best efforts, this is being played like a preseason game between a Premier League side and a bunch of part timers. Liverpool aren't trying because they don't need to, we have got absolutely no idea what to do. If this wasn't Cooper in the dugout people would be demanding the manager's head.

Well I guess we will see the new goalkeeper in the next game. That was pathetic.

What in God’s name was Turner thinking and now Gibbs White is buggered.

    Chicago: Oh Dear.
