"When a man is tired of West Bridgford, he is tired of life."

As Ken Clarke used to say.

Out of curiosity, because of our recent appearance at the Emirates, and my own personal history with the area, I had a look at what used to be my old haunts.

Just looking at them on streetview nearly brought on a panic attack.

Maybe he doesn't want to get stabbed (for those that remember Walshey)

I just read the piece in The Athletic. This seems like actually smart behaviour:

They didn't burn bridges, they're willing to evaluate their own decisions critically and accept that sometimes they don't get it right, and they're prepared to make corrections. Good businesses do these things.

25M euro bid for Sangare rejected by PSV, who are insisting we meet the 37M euro release clause.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 5:51 p.m.

Now watch Chelsea come in and sign him - after all, they seem to be signing everyone else (not to mention making the “fair” element of FFP look pretty arbitrary & stupid - and yes, I do know about amortisation).

All joking aside, the fact that Chelsea have gazumped Liverpoo for both Caicedo AND Lavia (and apparently Olise now, though not sure Klopp was in for him) does make my Scouse mate’s claim that Sangare is next on their list look more plausible. If that happens, it will probably cause Chic’s head to explode, so take cover over there on the Western side of the Pond

Possibly, although the fact that we've actually bid now does suggest that at least the previous position of Forest's interest in the player not being reciprocated may have progressed - I doubt we'd have bothered bidding if his agent was still saying he doesn't want to come here. Maybe after a summer of the big club links not materialising and his opportunity to play in a top European league narrowing, he's come round to the idea that he can shine for us for a year or two and then get a move to a top 6 club.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 6:05 p.m.

Also, the links I've seen have Liverpool wanting Fofana from Monaco, who is apparently a bit more of a true defensive midfielder than Sangare.

I know your tongue is in your cheeks, but I can't understand why anybody would be down on Johnson. His development and commitment to us has been outstanding and he is tough, aggressive and strong, certainly no crisp-packet: one of my favourite moments last year was when he got stuck into Richarlison. None of which is to say we shouldn't take a reasonable offer for him, and I can see why West Ham might be a good move. He's much better than Bowen and Antonio in my view.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 6:13 p.m.

I suspect our firm Sangare bid is just PSV trying to smoke out the other interested clubs.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 6:16 p.m.

I believe that there are quid pro quos done between clubs, and with agents. I do not believe that is particularly controversial....but a lot of people seem to not notice when it might be happening.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 6:46 p.m.

Have you actually seen Jarrod Bowen play? I suspect you haven’t because that was a very silly thing to say. I would swap him for Brennan in a heartbeat.

    Chicago: Football man.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 6:55 p.m.

I strongly doubt that he really believed it.....troll gonna troll.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 7:11 p.m.

Saying Johnson is better than Bowen isn't trolling. Trolling is saying something goading or palpably stupid for a reaction and that is neither. Brennan scored more league goals, got more assists and generally has better performance stats than Bowen last season, in a worse team and in his first full season the Premier league. He's four years younger and he is on the up. Whether you agree with me or not, there's a credible case for concluding Johnson is the better player and to say that's trolling is as disingenuous as some of the other bullshit you spout pet.

    Let the people decide.

  • 15 Aug 2023, 7:58 p.m.

Not sure what that would achieve. After all, the people decided Brexit, which some might say was also based on a concerted campaign of fabrication, but they decided it all the same and it doesn't make it the right answer. But if you like. You, me Jim and Russ might be the only people who vote though on the basis it's a truly pointless endeavour, then I'm stuffed unless Chicago chips in with some mercy.
