Luton being linked with Begovic. Don’t know what that does to Horvath.

Yes, "for the right money", of course.

But the right money would have to be more than £40m, for me. Let's say £60m. Which is, I grant you, a stupid amount. And then only to a Champions League club.

Because... I wonder how much our atmosphere is worth. I truly believe it got us over the line this season. And selling Brennan would do damage to it. Our home-grown jewel. The one player out of the three Academy regulars who will ever be worth stupid money.

    Jordan Smith linked with Stockport.
    Nicky Hogarth linked with Falkirk.

Villa the latest team with an alleged interest in Brennan.

Sounds a bit more plausible than Everton - but still hope not unless it is £60m plus

Agreed on the 'no smoke without fire' side of things. Something is afoot. It might be that he wants an improved contract, or it might be that he is genuinely interested in a move.

It's the natural order of things. Clubs like Chelsea and Newcastle raid clubs like Everton and West Ham and Brentford, who in turn believe they can raid clubs like Forest. Brentford have wanted him for a while and clearly Frank isn't going to give up, but 30M isn't close to the number IMO - he was clocked as the fastest player in the Premier League last year and has the same number of top flight goals in half the number of appearances as Anthony Gordon, who went for 40M. So I'd definitely be looking for a hefty premium over that.

I hadn't realised but it looks like Raya is off to Spurs. Between that and Toney's ban until January, I'm not sure Brentford look like an especially safe bet.

Brennan is presumably an attempt to fix the latter, they’ll find another goalkeeper without too much difficulty.

Emotion and one of our own aside ... What would it take? Think I'd want £50m to feel like we got a good price.

Agreed, 50M is the number where I consider returning the call. Anyway, Lyall Thomas off of Sky says that Brentford were having a punt because they really like him, but have other targets and aren't really interested in paying more than that. Off you fuck then lads.

Could be that it's coming from us?

To balance out the spending of last year a little, so that we can afford to churn some of the crap and buy some new ones.

They already have a new keeper in place - some Dutch lad that’s been playing in the Bundesliga.

I don't agree, unless they poach Hendo. Goalies are easy to get wrong, as Leicester and Chelsea can attest.

I know everyone’s recruitment is great until it isn’t but I don’t think Brentford are there yet - they’ll have known Raya was likely to leave and would have had the new guy in mind for a while. Chelsea’s goalkeepers are both adequate, if not amazing, Leicester went mad after cashing in on Schmeical and thought they could rely on an obvious backup.
