So you want to move Toffs to make space for Neco, when there is probably less than 50% chance of Lodi staying, particularly when if press reports are to be believed he wants Champions League football, we don't have a deal in place and his family never left Spain.

I thought Toffolo was pretty hard done by. Decent player and better going forward than Lodi.
Hard comparison to make. Toffolo has barely played in the PL.
Yeah, I don't feel like I've got a proper handle on how good Toffolo is but it feels like Lodi's better all-round today and has far more potential - albeit he's not ours. (Don't see Toffolo being capable of scoring the goal against Spurs.) Lodi's clearly quicker, which helps with everything.

We may find there are a group of players who took a while to get up to Premier League standard, either as a step up from the Championship or because they came from elsewhere. We can call this the “tricky theorem.”
From the Championship players, MGW and Brennan were probably the quickest. It took a bit longer for Yates (for all of you eulogising, he was woeful in the first few games and still finds it difficult to pass to a teammate), Worrall (because of injury and selection) and Toffolo. There are some who may not be up to it…Colback, O’Brien, Cook.
From the imports, clearly Aurier (with prem experience), Navas and Felipe took very little time to acclimatise. Lodi took a bit longer. Awoniyi, Mangala and Niakhate had injuries. Danilo was introduced slowly but that was a master stroke. Some we never saw…Richards, Bâdé (except in a Bridgford sushi restaurant)
So…for our left back position, if we lose Lodi (which seems likely), maybe Toffolo is now ready to start. Or maybe Richards will come good?
Yes, but he was terrible at it. TTR, Zinchenko, Cancelo all good examples.

Because national teams, especially from small nations like Wales, have limited players to pick from so quite often have to cram in talented players somewhere.
So if Neco is the best available left back and right back and the alternative right back is better than the alternative left back, he'll play on the left. Premier league teams shouldn't have to make those accomodations, for their first choice teams anyway.

I've heard the term alot so googled it recently. The explanation was a full back who moves into midfield when you're in possession.
I'm not sure about the inverted bit. Does it have to be someone who is playing on the wrong flank? i.e. would Serge be an inverted full back if we played him at LB but then he moved into more of a central midfield role when we've got the ball?
