It's not. We can laugh all we want at the quality of MLS (I personally think the average MLS side could survive in the Championship without challenging for the playoffs) but Americans do have a long tradition of developing quality goalkeepers.
Arsenal-supporting mate says Turner's a solid keeper, but his distribution isn't good enough for what they need. Thinks he'll be alright for us, as do I - time will tell.
The only conceivable reason for selling Brennan is to solve FFP. Part exchange simply reduces the impact on FFP. Unless the cash element is very large, Djed doesn’t make any difference
I think/hope there will be some higher quality panic signings when we get closer to the deadline, probably after being trounced by Arsenal, Man Utd and (most disappointingly) maybe even not a great result against Sheffield United. If we lose Johnson though (which just feels like it is going to happen) it is going to take something surprising for this pre-season to represent progress. Take a team which really struggled last year, badly at times, and remove three of the better/best/key performers in Lodi, Hendo/Navas and Johnson and replace with an Arsenal reserve keeper, a Man Utd reserve with lightning pace but frustrating end product, and Aina and you have all the ingredients for one hell of a struggle.
