That's a shame but feels like the correct move for everyone. He stepped up and played a huge part in the promotion run-in after Keinan and Grabban were injured, which he'll always be remembered for.

The United fans have nothing but glowing things to say about Elanga, he's apparently hard working and a really good character as well as blisteringly quick. Still not quite sure how we perm Brennan / MGW / Taiwo / Elanga into a front three though.

It’s a squad game, and we don’t have anyone else who’s a great deal of use. I expect we’re going to try to sign another striker. Five decent players competing for three spots in attack sounds ok to me.

Awoniyi is injured a fair bit.
It’s a good signing and encouraging we beat some rivals to his signature.

No he isn't. He's 25 years old and has played 220 senior games already. He had an injury last year that kept him out a little while, but other than that he's been very healthy through his career.

Elanga gets number 21, which was Kouyate's last season. Seems that Kouyate has moved to 8 - you'd think they'd give that to someone who's part of the first team.

He couldn’t last more than 60 mins, took a while to get fit at the start of the season and then was out for months. I’m not relying on him being around for a full season.

If you look at how short we were at times last season, and the pace and pressure of this league, there is certainly room in the squad for Elanga. You need 25 reliable, fit, quality players plus as many as you can get who can fit in the squad who don't count to the 25. Elanga is too young to count.
I remember last summer Russ saying he didn't think we need any more central midfielders after we signed Lewis O'brien. Well, we did. This isn't 1995 any more.
As for United fans views on Elanga, they did love him when he broke through but they seem a bit more luke warm now and last season and a half most seem to think selling him for £15M is not a bad deal. Consensus seems to be he is fast but a little imprecise and his final ball needs work. They have high expectations though and they certainly don't hate him. For my part, it is not a big fee by today's standards (cheaper than Dennis), he has premier league and international experience and he seems to have a really good attitude. Ralf Rangkik also rated him very highly indeed and, though not a roaring success at United, he certainly knows his onions.
If Brennan goes at least we now have someone, but I don't think he will.
