Does Category 1 status depend on results?

Or is it about infrastructure, resources, coaching time, etc?

It's the latter but if d*rby's situation means they can't compete with the big east Midlands clubs for players (not necessarily the case as you'd think the route to the first team is going to be easier there for a while), paying for a category 1 might stop making sense.

£1M for a player who won't take up a squad place and we won't have to pay £18M for if we don't stay up. Unless of course he's not ready for the PL at aged 18, in which case that's £18M of P&S costs we've burned for another season (at least).

These spending chickens are going to come home to roost at some point. Perhaps we're hoping to sell MGW for £80M in 18 months' time.

It wouldn't be £18m in a single season though. Amortisation means that, assuming a five year contract (likely for a player of that age), it's £3.6 million a season.

The Daily Torygraph has (dementedly) gone with a front page of two friends of Ms Maxwell (the jailed sex trafficker) sat in a bath wearing Maxwell and Prince Nonce masks in some sort of effort to prove that two people couldn’t ‘frollick’ in a bath tub as was claimed by the lady that was given £12m to be quiet and please go away.

There’s plenty of room in there. It’s a crazy act. Oddly the Torygraph had closed comments on that Twitter post and has been ona massive retweet and minor article posting session all morning.

None of ours were as clever as Luke Sitewalker. But the less downright offensive/nasty ones were…

Captain Ahab - because when we worked away he was always harpooning whales in the evenings.

A sparky called William. Electric Bill.

Samwise. Short, ginger. Couldn’t pass by without one of us shouting ‘Mr Frodoooo!’

One lad took a new bag to school when he was 14. Looked a bit like a girl’s bag. He was still being called handbag on site 20 yrs later.

Hitler. After he told us his great grandad was German.
